Q. Where can I get assistance if I have a techincal problem in the agricultural field, e.g. related to plant disease or animal feeding?

Such help may be obtained from the nearest district Extension Services office of the Agricultural Services and Rural Development Division. Extension Services offices may be found at:

Q. Where can I go to transfer or to register agricultural land?

A. Queries having to do with agricultural land and irrigation water are to be directed to the Land and Water Section at the Research and Agricultural Development Centre at Ghammieri, Marsa. Tel. 2144 5260

Q. Does Government offer an analysis service for soil and irrigation water?

A. Yes. This service may be obtained from the Chemical Laboratories at the Research and Agricultural Development Centre at Ghammieri, Marsa. Tel. 2122 4911. Prior to submitting a sample for analysis, you are enjoined to call the laboratories for instructions regarding the collection of the sample.

Q. Where can I get help about the use of pesticides?

A. Such advice may be obtained from the Biology Laboratories at the Research and Agricultural Development Centre at Ghammieri, Marsa. Tel. 2590 4140 or 2590 4505.

Q. Where can I buy fruit trees or vines?

A. Each year the Ministry for Rural Affairs and the Environment organizes the sale of fruit trees and vines. Around October a notice in the local papers calls for applications by interested persons who are asked to indicate their requirements. The actual sale is carried out from the fruit trees and vines nursery, namely the St Vincent de Paule Nursery at Luqa. For more information call 2144 5260.

Q. Where can I obtain soil for my garden?

A. The usual procedure for the public to obtain soil is to contact the Government Farm at Ghammieri on Tel. 2125 1037 to verify whether soil is available. A permit is then issued from the Land and Water Section for the transport of the soil either by departmental or by private vehicles to the place where it is needed.
